Recording More Of Our Industrial Past At The Lecht Mine
June 13 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Community Cultural Heritage Project invites you to join us to record the industrial past around the Lecht Mine.
We went out in April and thanks to some hardy volunteers in the chilly winds we recorded a building we think to be associated with the old mining works as well as what we believe to be old shieling remains.
There is still much left for this small corner to tell us about the industrial past. If you are interested to find out more about how to read the landscape and uncover clues about the past or to learn about recording archaeological remains of buildings this is your opportunity to give it a go!
This event is open to all and no previous experience is needed!
We will be joined by project lead partners Historic Environment Scotland who will be guiding and showing the skills and techniques involved.
We will meet each morning at 9.30am at the Well of the Lecht car park, just off the road to/from the Lecht Ski Centre. Please see Glenlivet Estate map for the location:
The car park is not too big. If we are able to support any car sharing please do get in touch with us if you are able to attend and we will try to help if we can.
If you can only stay for one or part of the day you can still join us, please just get in touch with us before the event (contact details below) to let us know.
Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and sturdy footwear as we will be going off the track onto heather moorland too.
We will provide some refreshments but please bring a packed lunch and drinks with you.
To let us know if you will be coming along or if you have any questions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or phone the TGLP Office 01807 580350.
