Project Lead: Crown Estate Scotland (CES)
What is the project?
The project aims to strategically review the nature, extent and spatial arrangement of commercial conifer plantations and other woodlands across the partnership area, with the aim of enhancing the landscape character of the area.
What are the main achievements?
- New native woodland creation.
- Pilot/demonstration project of restructuring/improving a conifer plantation.
- Forestry Grant Scheme funding has been secured for a new farm woodland and a native Scots pine woodland. Ground preparation and fencing will take place during summer 2020 with planting in spring 2021.
- New interpretation panel at Well of Lecht interpreting Glenlivet’s changing woodlands.
